David W. Batchelder.

Attorney

Attorney David Batchelder was born and raised in New Hampshire to a hard working family of dairy farmers and construction workers.  He was the first of his family to graduate college, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Law Studies from Oral Roberts University in 1986.  David returned to New England to attend Suffolk University Law School in Boston, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1990.  Mr. Batchelder then moved to South Florida and was admitted to the Florida Bar shortly thereafter.  Initially practicing in Maritime and Shipping Law, he quickly tired of representing big business and insurance companies, and moved to Southwest Virginia to represent disabled workers in the Appalachias.

David was fortunate to be hired as an associate attorney with the law firm of Arrington, Schelin & Herrell, a well established group of prominent attorneys known for representing the people of Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee.  In his four and a half years working in the Administrative Law Department (Social Security Disability and Worker’s Compensation cases), David represented hundreds of coal miners and coal barons, farmers, truck drivers, and teachers - hard working people from all walks of life, in countless SSDI/SSI disability hearings and court appearances.  During his tenure at Arrington, Schelin & Herrell, David was admitted to the Virginia and Tennessee Bars, The United States District Court, Western District of Virginia,  The United States District Court, Eastern District of Tennessee, The United States Court of Appeals - 4th  Circuit, and The United States Court of Appeals - 6th Circuit.

Mr. Batchelder returned to South Florida in 1996 where he opened a satellite office in Miami for Michael Steinberg and Associates - a national SSDI/SSI disability law firm.  David then opened his own office in 1999.  The Law Offices of David W. Batchelder, Jr., P.A./DWB LAW, LLC, would be a small office dedicated to representing a distinct group of individuals - disabled workers and children.  These deserving claimants would have the greatest chance of success before the courts, and would not be glutting the disability system with frivolous claims.  In opening his own law practice, Mr. Batchelder made it his mission to only represent individuals with a solid work history, people who had paid into the Social Security fund for a significant period of years, or unfortunate children with severe medical impairments.  At this time, David was also admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals - 11th Circuit.  David has been a Sustaining Member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR) since 1992, and served on the Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee from 2005 to 2009.  Mr. Batchelder is AV Rated by Martindale - Hubbell, the most prestigious rating awarded by that group, garnered from the confidential opinions of fellow attorneys and judges who are familiar with the excellent quality of his work, and the sterling reputation of his law practice.

Mr. Batchelder is also very active in the Miami Shores community where his family resides.  David served on the Board of Directors of the Miami Shores Chamber of Commerce for over 11 years, and has been a volunteer baseball, basketball, and football coach at the Miami Shores Recreation Center since 2006. Most recently, David founded and built the Shores Spartans Football and Cheer Club, a non profit tackle football and cheerleading program in the Miami Xtreme Youth Football League.  Mr. Batchelder is the Commissioner of the Shores Spartans, the Player Safety Coach,  and the head coach of the 130# (ages 11-12) team.
